Community Celebration Planned to Honor the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce Being Named Outstanding Chamber of the Year

(Greer, SC) Greer Memorial Hospital, Greer Commission of Public Works, Citizens Building and Loan, Prudential C. Dan Joyner – Donna O. Smith, City of Greer and Langford Electric are hosting a beach-themed celebration to honor the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce being named “Outstanding Chamber of the Year”. The event—entitled Summer Blast— will feature beach music, beach drinks, hamburgers and hot dogs and will be held at the Cannon Centre on August 30 from 5:30 pm-8:00 pm. “This is a state and region wide recognition that speaks volumes about the Chamber, the Greer community and all the businesses we are honored to serve. I’m happy to join our other partners as we share this award with the entire Greer community,” said Donna Smith, 2011 Chairman of the Board.
The Chamber won the award for “Outstanding Chamber of the Year” out of the five finalists from both South Carolina and North Carolina Chambers. The Greater Greer Chamber also won a Communication Award for an event program design.
The Outstanding Chamber of the Year Award recognizes organization excellence in chambers of commerce and provides a unique benchmarking opportunity to assess a chamber’s strengths. The award is based on the US Chamber of Commerce accreditation process for local chambers and highlights accomplishments in the areas of leadership/governance, finance, advocacy, and membership development.
