(Greer, SC) The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Edwin McCain as the headline performer for the 32nd Annual Pelham Medical Center Greer Family Festival.

This year’s event will be another great time for families to enjoy all of the great things our community has to offer. Having Edwin McCain as our head line performer will be exciting as we welcome another home grown musical artist to our stage,” said festival Chairman Rudy Painter.

The festival will be throughout downtown Greer and Greer City Park on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7. Edwin McCain will perform a free concert Saturday, May 7, 2014 at 8:00pm in Greer City Park. Pelham Medical Center returns as the event’s title sponsor. The City of Greer and The Greer Citizen also return as presenting sponsors.

“Since becoming the president of Pelham Medical Center in 2008, I have grown close to this community. Greer Family Festival plays an important role in Greer and sponsoring this event is a way we can give back to this community,” said Tony Kouskolekas.

With a rich history of providing family fun for all ages, the annual Pelham Medical Center Greer Family Fest promises to be better than ever this year, the 32nd anniversary of the event. This year's event will feature the best of the old and add exciting new activities with the goal of being the Upstate's favorite family festival. This two-day event features live music on the Citizens Building & Loan Main Stage and the Community Stage, Mitsubishi Anne Helton Creation Station, Davis Orthodontics KidsZone, Greer CPW Food Court, and over 150 vendors throughout the festival.

“We are excited to have the Savvy Restyle Market back this year, and look forward to their vendors offering a wide array of hand crafted items. The weekend will also offer the opportunity to get heath screening of all types and children will be able to experience a large arts and crafts area to make something special for Mom,” said Painter.

The festival runs Friday, May 6 (6-10pm) and Saturday, May 7 (10am-10pm). A full list of food and craft vendors, as well as the complete entertainment lineup and schedule of Pelham Medical Center health screenings will be available on the event website at

The festival is FREE to the public! Tickets for food, beverage and children’s rides can be purchased on site; craft vendors sales are cash transactions. The event is alcohol-free, and pets, coolers, skateboards and bicycles are not allowed in the event site.

Called the “great American romantic” by the New York Times, Edwin McCain has built an enviable career over the past 20 years by balancing his massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule of a tireless troubadour. His hit songs, authentic spirit and surprisingly affable sense of humor keep fans coming back time and time again for nights that feel more like parties with old friends than rock concerts. After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music, McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the US as a solo artist, with his full band or his acoustic trio. Recently, he’s added orchestras to his repertoire, performing with symphonies in select markets where he brings his powerful songs to majestic new heights.

Those enduring love songs (and wedding must-haves) “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask For More” aren’t just for the romantic at heart; “American Idol” and “The Voice” contestants turn to Edwin’s ballads every single year to help them win over judges and fans alike (just ask last season’s AI winner, Nick Fradiani). Even Justin Bieber has been known to belt out “I’ll Be” during his own concerts.

Earlier this year, McCain suddenly found himself with a whole new crop of fans when his “Flipping Ships” television show debuted on Animal Planet and became one of the highest rated new programs for the network. During the season, Edwin happily juggled his two jobs, filming the show by day and headlining concerts at night. “The 15-year-old me would have crawled through a river of fire to be the 41-year-old singer/songwriter that I am today, and I remember that. I am incredibly grateful to be able to do this.”
