Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce Announces Speaker for 73rd Annual Celebration

The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Bobby Hitt, Department Manager of Public Affairs at BMW Manufacturing Co. will be the keynote speaker at the 73rd Annual Celebration presented by Greer Memorial Hospital. The theme for this year’s event is, “A Success Story,” and the evening will be full of surprises and fun as the Chamber reviews their 2010 successes and looks into 2011. 2010 Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Brian Martin, with Martin & Davis, LLC, will pass the gavel to Donna O. Smith, of Prudential C. Dan Joyner, 2011 Chairman.
Hitt received his BA in Journalism from the University of South Carolina, attended graduate school in Business Administration and completed a Nieman fellowship at Harvard University from 1987-1988. Prior to joining BMW in 1993, Hitt had an extensive journalistic career beginning with The State in 1971, transferring to The News & Courier in Charleston, S.C until 1974 and then to The Columbia Record and ultimately The State newspaper as Managing Editor until 1991. From 1992-1993, Mr. Hitt served as a Director of Planning & Development for Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough.
Mr. Hitt serves with numerous community and industry organizations, including the S.C. Centers of Excellence Review Board, S.C. Manufacturers’ Alliance Board of Directors, MUSC’s Hollings Cancer Center Advisory Board and New Carolina, SC Council on Competitiveness. He is also the President and Tournament Chairman of S.C. Charities, Inc. (BMW Charity Pro-Am).
Mr. Hitt was recognized in 2006 by his alma mater, University of South Carolina, as Distinguished Alumni of the Year. He is married and the father of two sons.

The event will take place at the Embassy Suites on Thursday, January 20, 2011. A Cocktail Reception will be at 5:30pm and the dinner and program begins at 7:00pm.
