Greer Chamber Celebrates 70 Years of Service

(GREER, SC) On August 3, 1937, Secretary of State for the state of South Carolina, W.P. Blackwell signed the Certificate of Incorporation for the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce. Since that time, the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce has been serving the business interests of the Greater Greer area. On Friday, August 3, 2007 the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce will host a special First Friday Luncheon to honor the 70th Anniversary of the organization. “It is a tremendous testimony to the Greer business community for its support of the Greer Chamber for 70 years.” states Chamber President, John Kimbrell. “There are have been numerous leaders come and go from the Chamber the past 70 years, but the mission of the organization has remained the same,” Kimbrell adds.
The special celebration will take place at the monthly First Friday Luncheon event at Cottages at Brushy Creek. The event will feature Dr. Caroline Whitson, President of Columbia College. Dr. Whitson’s topic of discussion is “Foreseeing the Future” in education and workforce development. The luncheon is being sponsored by Greer State Bank. The First Friday Luncheon Presenting Sponsor of the Year is the Greenville News.
