Greer Chamber Names President

(GREER, SC) The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce executive board is pleased to announce the hiring of David Merhib as its new President and CEO. Merhib has served as the President and CEO of the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce in Brookings, South Dakota for the last four years.
Merhib said, "I am looking forward to leading the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce and working with the Board of Directors, Chamber staff and Chamber membership. My goal is to keep the Chamber relevant through new and existing programs and initiatives that impact the business community as well as develop and create opportunities for business growth throughout the Greater Greer area. I will be joining the Chamber on January 28th and my wife and our four children will be joining me at the end of May as my wife transitions out of her current position in South Dakota.”

David is prepared and eager to help our organization, members, and community thrive,” said Greer Chamber Chairman Mikelle Porter.
During his tenure with the Brookings Area Chamber, Merhib has been instrumental in the leadership of creating a Downtown Business District Committee through a partnership with the Brookings City government. In addition, Merhib was responsible for the implementation of two organizational multi-year strategic plans, the creation of a tiered dues benefit structure for members, and the establishment of public policy statements for the business community.
Prior to his tenure with the Brookings Area Chamber, Merhib spent fifteen years in the museum field, with his last position being held at the Visual Arts Center in the Washington Pavilion of Arts & Science.
He holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration from South Dakota State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts History from the University of Oregon. Merhib is also a graduate of the Institute of Organizational Management from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
