Greer Chamber to Recognize Outstanding Leader

Leadership Greer Alumni Association to host special recognition luncheon
(GREER, SC) The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce will award the 1st annual “Outstanding Leadership Award” at a special luncheon on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Thornblade Club in Greer. Registration will begin at 11:45 am followed by lunch at noon. The Leadership Greer Alumni Association is sponsoring the luncheon and Senator Jim DeMint will be the guest speaker.
Nominations for the award were made by members of the Greer Chamber of Commerce and the recipient must be a graduate of Leadership Greer or Junior Leadership Greer and must have demonstrated effective leadership and furthered the growth of the community through active involvement in community/civic programs, organizations and/or activities. The Leadership Development Council of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce reviewed all nominations and will select the recipient.
Brian Martin, Vice-Chair-Leadership Development for the Greer Chamber of Commerce states, “The Leadership Development Council is excited to start this great annual tradition of recognizing deserving leaders in the Greer community. Much of the success that Greer has experienced recently came about through strong leadership and this award and special luncheon will recognize and thank some of Greer’s finest leaders as well as recognize the leadership development components of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce.”
At the special Awards Luncheon, the Chamber will hear remarks from United States Senator, Jim DeMint, formally introduce the new Leadership Greer class, and announce the winner of the “Outstanding Leadership Award.” John Kimbrell, President and CEO of the Greer Chamber adds, “The Chamber is excited to host this very important event and will continue the tradition of recognizing leaders in the community that have made a difference.”
