74th Annual Celebration to Feature Inaugural J. Verne Smith Award

The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the inaugural J. Verne Smith Award will be presented at the upcoming 74th Annual Celebration. The award is presented by Keith and Donna Smith in gratitude of the legacy of service that the late Senator displayed while serving as an elected official and everyday citizen.
The 74th Annual Celebration is presented by Greer Memorial Hospital. The event will be Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Embassy Suites with a cocktail reception at 5:30pm and the program and dinner at 7:00pm.
The J. Verne Smith Award recipient has been chosen by the late Senator’s family based on leadership and service to the Greater Greer area.
“Much of our present success has everything to do with the past leadership of Senator J. Verne Smith,” stated Allen Smith, President/CEO of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce. “The late Senator was a tremendous advocate of all things Greer. His legacy of leadership and service will live on as we, with the help of Keith and Donna Smith, name this award for him.”
The evening will feature the Chamber’s successes and highlights from 2011 and the 2011 Chairman of the Board, Donna O. Smith with Prudential C. Dan Joyner will pass the gavel to in-coming Chairman, John Mansure with Greer Memorial Hospital.
The evening will conclude with several more awards including the Sud Paget Volunteer of the Year Award, Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award, and the Chairman’s Award for Excellence.
