Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce Announces
Speaker for 75th Annual Celebration

The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Craig Dietz as the keynote speaker for their 75th Annual Celebration to be held on January 17, 2013. Dietz is an ESPN-featured athlete but even more so, he is considered to be one of the greatest motivational speakers of inspiration and courage. Despite being born without limbs, Craig lives a life of adventure including hunting, fishing, skiing, bowling and volleyball. In particular, he has developed a passion for swimming. Since 2008, Craig has competed in the Pittsburgh Triathlon each year and in 2012, he finished the swim in 29:16, with his team finishing 4th out of 18 teams.  Craig became the first quadruple amputee to swim across the Chesapeake Bay in June 2012 where he finished the 4.4-mile rough-water swim in less than 3 hours.

Dietz graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in 1996, with a B.A. in political science.  He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1999 and currently works with the City of Pittsburgh as an Assistant City Solicitor. His story of inspiration and courage can be found at

Presented by Greer Memorial Hospital, the Annual Celebration will be an evening full of surprises and fun as the Chamber reviews 2012 successes and looks into 2013. Entitled “A Look Back, A Look Ahead,” the evening will feature 2012 Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce Chairman, John Mansure passing the gavel to Bill Roughton, 2013 Incoming Chairman.

“The business community has had to face a lot of adversity; however, the adversity we have faced pales in comparison with the daily challenges Mr. Dietz faces,” states Allen Smith, President and CEO of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce. “We can all learn from his positive attitude and the fact that he has succeeded despite all odds.”

The Annual Celebration will take place at the Embassy Suites Hotel Golf Resort and Conference Center with a cocktail reception beginning at 5:30 pm and dinner and program beginning at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $65 for Chamber members and $75 for non-members. Tickets may be purchased by visiting or by phoning 864-877-3131. Sponsorships are available for this premier event.
