Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce's April 1 First Friday Luncheon to Feature Dr. Michael W. Fanning
March 16, 2011
The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce’s First Friday luncheon series continues in April with featured keynote speaker, Dr. Michael Fanning, of the Olde English Consortium (OEC), a nonprofit organization seeking to promote excellence and efficiency in local communities through collaboration. His presentation is titled, “Is Our State Broke?...Or is Our System Broken?”
Dr. Fanning is an expert on tax reform and has studied South Carolina’s tax structure such that he is a veritable source on what areas desperately need reform. Fanning’s presentation focuses on reducing tax rates for all South Carolinians, while stabilizing our state’s competitiveness – through addressing the hundreds of special interest tax loopholes/exemptions inserted into the tax code over the past several decades. Dr. Fanning has worked over the past year to promote awareness in the general public on this critical issue. Currently, there are dozens of local chambers and community groups across the state who have come together to form ROAR – a group dedicated to honest tax reform: www.roarsc.com
“Given the topic, one would assume this to be a dry presentation. However, I’ve had the opportunity to hear Dr. Fanning, and he is one of the more entertaining presenters I have ever heard. This issue affects all businesses, small, medium or large, and I encourage our members to reserve their seat today,” stated Allen Smith, President and CEO of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce.
The First Friday Luncheon series is presented by Greer Memorial Hospital.
The luncheon begins with networking at 11:30am and the program starts promptly at Noon at the Greer City Hall complex located on Poinsett Street. This event is open to members and non-members of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce.
